Happy Easter

Make things for Easter

Easter Chickens and Ducks

I came across this chick idea in an old book and though that this might be fun. Adapt to use what you might have.

What you need

  • Stiff cardboard (an old birthday card?), yellow wool, orange felt, scissors.
  • Possibly a darning needle if you want a really tight ball.

Method

  1. Make two wool balls (pompoms) by making two circle of cardboard of both sizes as fig 1.
  2. a is larger than b  and a is about 7.5cm and has a hole of about 2.5cm. b just has to be smaller.see the proportions above
  3. There has to be two of each so you can put them together and then wind wool around them.
  4. Wrap the wool  putting it through the hole
  5. When it is nice and tight and you can't push more through then either use a darning needle to get more through or stop
  6. Cut through the wool wool around the edges between the two halves
  7. Tie a piece of strong thread between the rings and knot it as tightly as you can to draw the wool together tightly
  8. Leave a length of thread so you can hang the ball up if you wish or join the head to the body in the above
Here's some more pics of ducks and chicks
